My first meal did not get done on the setting (#3) that was listed in the book.
I was disappointed because we could not have our dinner as planned. I had to cook the meal several hours longer and have as “leftovers” the next day. Next time I will have to set the crockpot on the highest setting and cook longer than recommended. All in all, I would not buy this item again.

I am going on my third West Bend slow cooker in over 35 years. The previous
two were replaced only because the teflon coating was wearing out from considerable use. Otherwise, they were fully functional.
In response to a few reviewers, the knob is solid, and has a groove cut in to show you the temperature your cooker is set on.
I love this item because it can be used on the stove as well as the base.
This morning, I was browning a roast, and our lights flickered several times due to heavy rain and gusting winds. We didn’t lose power, but I knew my meal was safe because I could take it to the stovetop, and finish it there.
The tote will be an added plus!

Bought this for my mom for Christmas as she had one that was 20 yrs old and the plate had burned out. She loves it and says that even thought she originally had the 6 Qt. pot, the Glass and Plastic cover fit on both her new and old pot and both pots fit on the hot plate. She is very Happy with this product and the tote and plastic lid were a real bonus. I looked on other sites and found the crockpot and hot plate only and they were slightly more expensive. I think this was a great deal. Hope she will have many more years of cooking joy with it.
