So – I went to Target and bought a smaller (took hours and several visits to different stores) Rival (only brand I’ll buy for that type of appliance) crockpot that turned out to be the perfect size for the intended person – AND the bonus was a carrier. HOWEVER – I did buy a Rival roaster for that family for Thanksgiving.

I bought this cooker several weeks ago, tried several meals, and it is truly a slow cooker, or maybe, a very slow warmer. Unless one has endless patience, look for another brand. I threw it out rather than give it to Goodwill and let some other person experience the frustration of endlessly waiting for food to cook.

I purchased this because I wanted a large Crockpot, however I discovered something which I consider to be a dangerous design flaw.
The base only has 3 feet and they are rubber, not plastic like their other crockpots. When I attempted to slide the pot on the countertop, it tipped, spilling hot liquid. The rubber feet gripped the countertop.
Sliding it to move it an inch or 2 should not have been an issue.
I called Rival and was told they have had no complaints similar to mine.
I am returning it tomorrow.

The first time I used this Rival slow cooker, food that was supposed to cook for eight hours was overdone and inedible after two hours. I lost the receipt and could not return it. Lesson learned; if you buy this item, beware of first time use and hang on to the return slip!
